When we first decided to paint our truck pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, we couldn’t have known just how meaningful this project would become to us over time.
We initially built this truck for our sister, who is a breast cancer survivor. Our goal was to increase breast cancer awareness with our “rolling billboard” — a pink short-load concrete truck — throughout Fairfield County and beyond.
During the painting process, our office manager, Maria Carlucci (a colon cancer survivor), suggested that we have our sister, Maria Cavaliere Lovello, sign the truck. “Wow, what a great idea!” we thought... but we suddenly realized that this project shouldn't be about just one survivor.
At that moment, we decided not only to build this truck to raise awareness, but also to use it as a fundraiser for the Hope in Motion's Paint the Town Pink to raise money in support of patients at Stamford Health’s Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center.
Coincidentally, during the building process, our mother, Lois Cavaliere, received a diagnosis of breast cancer. For the next several months Mom was underwent Chemotherapy at the Bennett Cancer Center with tremendous love and support from family and friends both near and far. She loved the truck and attended as many Breast Cancer events that she could that the truck was attending. On November 4th of 2023 our Mom lost her courageous fight with Breast Cancer. Although she may not be here with us anymore we will continue to help raise funds through our ribbon sales for Hope in Motion.
So, yes, this truck has more meaning than we ever could’ve imagined. This pink truck is not only for our sister, Maria, and our mom, Lois. It’s also for your Mother, your Sister, your Daughter, your Aunt, your Grandmother, and anyone else (including the men in your life) who has been directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer.
We are committed to helping ensure that every woman has access to the screenings she needs and the support she deserves with our "Pour the Town Pink" Campaign. We also hope that this will be a reminder for women to schedule their annual mammograms with their health care provider.
All proceeds raised during our "Pour the Town Pink" Campaign will go directly to Stamford Health’s Carl and Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center. Your donation will directly fund uninsured, under insured and low income women to receive mammograms and follow-up testing as needed. In addition, funds go toward breast programming, The Cool Cap, the Beautiful Inside and Out Program, Endocrine Therapy Program and the phenomenal care provided by the Bennett Cancer Center's team
Please visit our "Pour the Town Pink" fundraising page to see how you can make a charitable donation. Every dollar helps.
This truck — custom built to raise breast cancer awareness — was previously an ambulance and now the spectacular team at Cavaliere Industries used their talent, work ethic, and ingenuity to make this one of the most unique breast cancer awareness vehicles in the area. Check out some photos of the build in the gallery at the bottom of this page.
